Microblog Mondays – The musky obsession

I used to hate perfumes. They always give me a headache. I never buy them and also stay away from people who splash a lot of perfumes and get into a small lift.  And even in closed cars, the perfume smell is so strong that I immediately try to open the windows.

Those floral, fruity perfume flavors are not my type. I prefer the simple Deo, especially the sport ones, as they are not so overpowering.

And recently, I discovered my love for the musk.  I am falling for it, totally.  This is the best thing that is happening to me now, as I can go musk shopping now 😀

In one of the online dictionaries, I found this description for musk.

A musky smell might make you close your eyes and smile, or it might make you leave a room. Either way, it’s a very strong and sweet odor that’s hard to ignore.

Musk is a scent that deer secrete to convince a mate to cuddle with them, and so a musky odor often does the same for humans.

Who said floral and fruity flavors are only for women huh ??  Even though the perfume market is overloaded with such typecast flavors for women, I feel there are a few out there, like the new me, who prefer the bolder, muskier and earthier kinds.

So, anyone want to Hi-5 me on this one ??

  1. I love perfumes and Deo.. I don’t like that fruity smell either! who wants to smell like an apple all day na?! 😀
And I will probably end up feeling hungry all the time!! hehe! 😀

I like musk too and those weird exotic smells (don’t know how else to describe them?)

  2. musk is definitely a nice fragrance, and there are so many different kinds.. some are too overpowering, while others are wonderful. the body shop’s white musk perfume oil is awesome, and most middle eastern perfumes/perfume oils use musk 🙂

  3. I had to look up my perfume to figure out what I like! I wear Co.co Made.moiselle and have for several years after my DH bought it for me. Before that, I hardly wore a scent. Anyway, I guess I like florals! This one has floral top notes with musk basenotes. One spritz and I’m out the door. Hopefully, I don’t overwhelm anyone. 🙂

  4. I hate when people put on too much of anything- deodorant, perfume, etc. Axe body spray is the worst! I only wear one perfume- Ralph Lauren Romance and it’s a nice floral scent. One spritz only!

  5. I’m still in the camp of hating all perfumes. That even goes for perfumed soap. I am so particular about smell — especially smell on my skin — that I carry liquid cleanser so I can wash my hands a second time after the initial washing just to get the scent off my hands. 🙂

  6. Hi. Cannot stand florals. Never could. When I was a younger woman I wore a scent called Soft Musk. My allergies kicked in and I had to cease. I have been reluctant to try anything new for fear my body would reject it and thus, a waste. Plus which, so many scents were too fruit y or floral for my taste. I’ve gotten to an age where I mostly just want to smell clean. I’ve had decent luck (with regard to breakouts) with a Calgon body mist–tourquoise seas–is the frangrance. I had sort of . . . re-visiting my youth moment and bought from (Bath and Body Works) a body spray product, frangrance: white tea and ginger. It isn’t working for me as much as the Turquoise Seas/Calgon product.
